ABOUT

Kara is a licensed clinical psychologist and received her Ph.D. in Counseling and Organizational Psychology from Columbia University in 1998. She has been in private practice as a psychotherapist and organizational consultant and coach for 25 years. Her diverse training and experience as both a clinician and a consultant/coach afford her a layered perspective and the capacity to hold space and work creatively and collaboratively with clients to improve professional identities and work environments in a unique and impactful way. Kara likes helping teams and co-workers harness their own strengths to identify sources of breakdown in workflow, communication and trust, manage conflict, facilitate repair and improve working environments. She uses a positive, growth-mindset and is known for using humor and having a nonjudgmental stance.

Over the past decade, Kara has developed a specialty counseling and coaching physicians at all stages of their career, as well as executives and administrators within the medical field. As a result, she has a unique understanding of the complexities of hospital systems and relationships. Her work with chief residents and fellows, particularly throughout the COVID pandemic, has led to the development of coaching methods and programs for the mental health, safe training and professional development of residents and chief resident physicians.

Kara completed her formal coach and consultant training at the Gestalt International Training Institute (GISC) in Wellfleet, MA and is a certified GISC coach and ACC credentialed member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She is also a trained mediator through MWI of Boston, MA and an SJC accredited mediator in the State of MA.

Kara resides in Western Mass. and can be found hiking, gardening, doing aerial yoga or enjoying time with her family in her free time.
